Many people were skeptical to whether the Heat would bring Chalmers back next season. He struggled throughout the playoffs last season and hasn’t been playing productive basketball lately.

Chalmers has spent his entire six-year career in Miami and has been the starting point guard for their two championships while he has been there. He averaged 9.8 points per game and 4.9 assists per game for the Heat last season, including shooting 38 percent from behind the three-point line.

He signed a two-year deal with the Heat that will pay him around $4 million next season. Riley said, “It’s great to have Mario back. We’re happy that he wants to continue his career in Miami, he’s one of our core players, and I believe he will have a great season.”
