Dishonorable Mention: Andrew Bynum

Bynum hasn’t logged a meaningful minute in the NBA since 2012, and that was with the L.A. Lakers four teams ago.  The Philadelphia 76ers made a blockbuster trade to acquire him, but he never even suited up in his one season there.

Last summer Bynum suckered the Cleveland Cavaliers into signing him, and he played in only 24 games before being suspended then dealt to the Chicago Bulls, who cut him immediately.  The Indiana Pacers gave him one more chance, and Bynum took the floor on just two occasions before the team decided they were better off without him as well.

At this point, no NBA franchise should ever again offer Bynum money to play basketball.

Honorable Mention: Jermaine O’Neal

O’Neal will turn 36 years old before the seasons starts, and is reported to be mulling over retirement.  He was still an effective NBA center with the Golden State Warriors last year, putting up 7.9 points and 5.5 rebounds in slightly more than 20 minutes per game.
