When discussing the most “NBA Ready,” prospects in this year’s draft, Julius Randle’s name has to at least be in the discussion. In fact, many NBA Draft experts think he is more ready for the pros than many of the other rookies. Physically, Randle is quite intimidating and his 6’9″ and 250 pound frame draws comparisons to Memphis Grizzlies forward Zach Randolph.
I understand going up against college players could be deceiving in terms of how strong Randle will be in the NBA. Though, with his combination of strength and basketball IQ, Randle will be a double-double machine at the next level. So much so, I expect him to average around 13 points and 9 rebounds per game, as well.
With his shorter wingspan, he will get dominated at times by guys like Blake Griffin, but there will also be times when he gets the best of them.
Playing alongside Kobe Bryant will help him learn even more. It will be important for Bryant to take the young man under his wing and help him feel more comfortable as he prepares for life on the big stage in Los Angeles.
