Although I’m still uncertain about Detroit’s roster, I will admit, bringing in Stan Van Gundy was a wise move for owner Tom Gores.
He’s the perfect kind of coach for a team built around a young center in Andre Drummond, and should have no trouble getting the Pistons back into the postseason relatively soon.
The first thing Van Gundy will need to figure out is whether they will hang on to Josh Smith or Greg Monroe, since both bigs failed to co-exist well in the starting lineup last season.
Once that’s settled, Detroit should have a bright future ahead of them, but for now, the failed ‘3 towers’ experiment unfortunately continues.
