The Celtics Are Thankful For: Backcourt Depth

With 17 Championship banners hanging in the rafters of the TD Garden Arena, the Celtics have a long, rich history to be proud and thankful of.

However, looking at today’s Celtics, they should be appreciative and thankful for the depth and quality they have at both guard positions. A lot of the quality in the Celtics’ guards lies in Rajon Rondo, a top-10 point guard in the NBA. The Celtics however, have a unique situation where they also have a young stud in Marcus Smart who could possibly replace or play alongside Rondo for several years to come.

In addition to the depth at the point guard position, the Celtics have one of the best perimeter defenders in the league in Avery Bradley starting at shooting guard and a very versatile scorer in James Young, who could be one of the steals of the 2014 draft, backing him up.
