Brooklyn Nets

Record: 6-9

The Brooklyn Nets are in a horrible spot — both in terms of the front office and strategically on the basketball court.

They aren’t good enough — at least based on their play early on this year — to compete for a legitimate playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, and aren’t bad enough to warrant any high-end NBA draft pick.

Deron Williams, Joe Johnson and Kevin Garnett simply aren’t enough to carry a team in the NBA anymore. As strange as that may sound.

The Nets are in a weak conference, but don’t “have” enough to overtake the upstart Toronto Raptors, no matter what immediate injury issues that they have to deal with right now.

The simple fact that Brooklyn is the second-best team in that division is all you need to know — it’s bad. And the Nets still can’t muster a record better than 6-9.

Brooklyn needs to figure out a plan. Right now, it doesn’t look like they have one. Unless it entails losing millions of dollars every season. If so, they’re on the right track.

Panic button, meet the Brooklyn Nets.
