He’s 30 years old

Carmelo Anthony is a soon-to-be 31-year-old. If he hasn’t yet, he’s about to pass the prime of his career and enter the latter stages of it. And if he doesn’t tread lightly, his fall from one of the top players in the NBA to just another guy in the NBA is going to be on a accelerated pace.

The Knicks need to understand that they gave a five-year, max contract to a 30-year-old. They need to protect one of their only legitimate assets in the franchise.

If Melo breaks down at 32, his contract will just be another bad deal in a long list of horrible decisions in the franchise’s history.
