Report: Celtics Will Trade Brandan Wright to the Suns

After reports surfaced earlier this afternoon that Boston Celtics General Manager Danny Ainge had placed Brandan Wright on the trading block, it appears the big man may have already found a new home.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports, Boston has finalized a deal that will send Wright to the Phoenix Suns, in exchange for a future first round pick.

This news comes just 3 weeks after the big man, Jameer Nelson and Jae Crowder were packaged in a trade that sent Rajon Rondo to the Dallas Mavericks.

The first round pick offered by the Suns was originally owned by Minnesota, and is protected through selections 1-12 in both the 2015 and 2016 draft. If the team is unable to make a selection in either draft, they will instead be awarded with a second round pick in both the 2016 and 2017 draft.

With the Timberwolves sitting at the bottom of the Western Conference standings, it’s almost a guarantee that the Celtics will be awarded with 2 second round picks instead of the first round pick.

For the season Brandan Wright has held averages of 7.5 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game, along with the league’s 10th best player efficiency rating of 24.27 – the highest mark in his career.
