For the last few months, the Brooklyn Nets have been talking about how much they’d like to rid themselves of one of their Big Three contract players — Deron Williams, Brook Lopez or Joe Johnson. Since then though, not much has happened.
I mean apart from being essentially a phone call away from dealing Lopez to the Hornets in exchange for Lance Stephenson, the Nets haven’t been close to dealing any of their Big Three. Mostly because their asking price is probably more than what other teams are willing to give up for aging max players.
There have been teams interested, but I would assume that the negotiation is usually what turns opposing teams off.
Brooklyn has two more days to save face, though. Maybe call Charlotte again?
Asking Price: Young asset, expiring contracts or future picks
