11. Detroit Pistons

Record: 21-33

Detroit looked like a team that couldn’t figure out its identity early this season. Josh Smith couldn’t find a way to fit in with the team and because of the chemistry issues, the Pistons we’re at the bottom of the standings.

Then, they did the unthinkable and cut Josh Smith and decided it was time to move on. It seemed like a questionable move to pay a guy so much money to leave, but then the Pistons started winning and very much looked like a potential playoff team.

Unfortunately, Detroit would lose starting point guard Brandon Jennings (to injury) who was playing much better after the Smith departure. Without Jennings it will be tough for Detroit to make the playoffs, but they should not be counted out. Detroit looks like a team that might miss the playoffs this year but, next year, they could easily be a playoff team.
