Many people, myself included, thought that the San Antonio Spurs were set to be the strongest team in the playoffs, who didn’t have home court advantage. Despite a mediocre regular season they turned up the volume when it seemingly mattered most, accelerating to the 6th seed — almost the 2nd seed — in the strong Western Conference.
They still might be the best team on the road in these first couple of playoff games, yet somehow the Los Angeles Clippers were able to bring them to a screeching halt in Game 1.
A lot of pieces fell into place for the Clips in the first game of the best of seven series. A 15 point advantage would be considered a strong win for the Golden State Warriors in their first vs. eight seed draw with the New Orleans Pelicans.
