After the Cleveland Cavaliers completed their first round sweep of the Boston Celtics, they were left licking its wounds and counting the heads of the players who will be available for the second round.
That’s because the Cavs lost Kevin Love (to injury) for what appears to be the foreseeable future, and could lose J.R. Smith later today due to suspension. The Cavs, who entered the NBA playoffs as one of the favorites to win the NBA championship, might need to go back to the drawing board.
The Cavs from the regular season, as we knew them, are not going to be the same Cavs that we see in the second round against the Chicago Bulls. Cleveland is going to need some tweaking and we might actually see just how good of a coach David Blatt really is.
Who’s still in: Cleveland Cavaliers, Atlanta Hawks, Chicago Bulls, Washington Wizards, Milwaukee Bucks, Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Clippers, Portland Trail Blazers, Memphis Grizzlies, San Antonio Spurs, Dallas Mavericks.
Who’s out: Boston Celtics, New Orleans Pelicans, Toronto Raptors.
