In somewhat of a surprise, the New Orleans Pelicans decided it was time for a change — specifically to their head coach.
After five seasons, one rebranding and two postseason appearances, the New Orleans Pelicans decided that it was time to fire head coach Monty Williams. Which comes as somewhat surprising considering that Williams had just polished off a 45-win season and a playoff berth in one of them most competitive conference races in NBA history.
Nevertheless, Pelicans management just didn’t think he did enough. That said, I’m not sure any eighth seed out West was going to win a game against the Golden State Warriors. The Pelicans nearly did — and probably should’ve — but that’s neither here nor there.
Now, there’s a very attractive head coaching job available. With the opportunity to coach Anthony Davis for many years to come, many suitors are going to be interested in coming to New Orleans.
Here are the top five head coaching candidates to replace Monty Williams.
