In many regards, this series should be a phenomenal one. The NBA Playoffs to this point have provided fans across the globe with back-and-forth action in several different series. By that measure, the Western Conference Finals matchup between the top-seeded Golden State Warriors and the second seed Houston Rockets should be fantastic.
Why is it then that booking odds have the Warriors as 10 point favorites the morning of the series’ first game? Granted they are the home team, yet those odds should still be a bit more balanced for a matchup between the teams who came away with the top two records in the deep Western Conference.
In a discussion about the series this morning on ESPN’s First Take, Skip Bayless went as far as to say he believes the Golden State Warriors will sweep the Rockets on their way to advancing to the NBA Finals.
So why is it that analysts seem to feel so strongly about this matchup between the top two teams in the West?
Let’s take a closer look.
