Wisconsin. Sam Dekker. 16. player. 18.
The Celtics need to address two things this offseason: center and small forward. At this point, there are no real centers on the board, unless you think Bobby Portis can play the five for big minutes. He may be able to, but even when saying that, Sam Dekker is the way to go. Dekker is an elite athlete and a streaky shooter, but he is an immediate upgrade at the three over Crowder and Turner. He fits in with what the Celtics are building, a group of hard-nosed defensive players who never quit on plays and can keep the ball moving in the halfcourt.

A starting group of Avery Bradley, Marcus Smart, and Sam Dekker would be intimidating, and would make rim protection less important because the wing defense would be so good, guys wouldn’t get to the hoop as much.

Dekker played in a system with no point guard this year, and he demonstrated his ability to move the ball and create for himself in the offense. He’s shown some ability to go one-on-one, and he’s a solid ballhandler. He is a terror in the open court and a great cutter too, something that fits into Stevens’ scheme. He is a legit NBA prospect with amazing size, and if he can keep hitting jumpers like he did in the tournament, he will become a very good player.
. SG/SF
