I’ve thought about the idea of WCS and Cousins playing like Drummond/Monroe, where they play the beginning and end of games together and one are on the court at all times.

The Kings were horrid on defense for the most of the year so this all makes sense, right?

Wrong.

The Kings were very good on defense under Mike Malone, but they had three head coaches this year with three different schemes (if you can all Corbin’s “defense a scheme”) and it’s difficult to adjust mid-season. Adding Porzingis would give the Kings the stretch four they’ve craved around Cousins, as WCS can only dunk and would kill spacing. He can also run the floor better than any of the Kings’ current bigs, and would be deadly trailing the break for threes.

Teams would be unable to double team Cousins without leaving a shooter open, and that would be killer on offense. He could be the missing piece in their starting lineup. Collison is also a dependable point guard on a solid salary, so there would be limited reason to bring in Mudiay.

Mudiay would also hurt the spacing around Cousins, and even though he would run the floor, he could crush the spacing of their offense (it would also mean <a href=. PF. Latvia. Kristaps Porzingis
