Overall Fit

It was a very pleasant surprise when I found out the Knicks traded for Grant. I’m not sure If Phil targeted him before the draft or not, but it was a nice pickup. He’s doesn’t seem like a perfect fit for the triangle but some of his strengths seem to benefit the Triangle Offense. Mostly, his passing and slashing intrigue me.

Like I mentioned before, Grant is almost 23. Usually, NBA players that are 23 have been in the league for multiple seasons. That’s probably why Grant was picked in the middle of the first round. ESPN’s Chad Ford seems to agree as he’s said before that “If Grant were 19 or 20 years old, he’d be a top-10 pick.”

I’m happy with the selection. We possibly got the third best point guard in the NBA Draft, who’s 10 years younger than our current starting point guard — and Grant also seems to be a solid fit for the triangle.

If I’m Phil, I’d want to play him a lot during his rookie year. The Knicks plan still seems to be confusing as of now, but maybe we’ll get some clarity as the official offseason will start soon.

But for now, the New York Knicks got an NBA-ready point guard, who fits the triangle, and still has some upside with his age. I can’t complain.

And neither should Knicks fans.
