The NBA is a superstar driven league, so when the NBA draft comes around basketball fans all around the world stand in front of their TV, hoping and praying that their team drafts the next Kevin Durant or Anthony Davis. Most of the focus on draft night and the days thereafter — understandably so — surrounds the first round. I’m sure some fans might even turn their TV’s off after the first 30 selections.
But what about those other 30 players? The players that might be a bit older, slower or just not as tall as the other guys in the draft? Every single year we find gems in the second round of the draft that help their teams out immensely in the years to come. Some of these guys even go on to become key players and help their team win the playoffs.
Guys like Marc Gasol (No. 48 overall),Paul Millsap (No. 47), Manu Ginobili (No. 57) and most recently, Draymond Green (No. 35), Chandler Parsons (No. 38) and Isaiah Thomas (No. 60) are all key players for their teams that were once selected in the second round. It’s clear that there’s good talent in the second round. All It just takes is a good scouting team and a little bit of luck.
Here are five players selected in the second round that could possibly be steals. May the odds be in your team’s favor.
