Free agent big man Tyson Chandler has officially agreed to a deal with the Phoenix Suns
Tyson Chandler has agreed to a deal with the Phoenix Suns, officially ending his tenure with the Dallas Mavericks for a second time in 5 years.
He joins restricted free agent Brandon Knight as the second player to sign with the club in free agency, who inked a 5-year, $70 million contract extension earlier this morning.
According to ESPN’s Marc Stein, Chandler is projected to make $52 million over the next 4 years, similar to the deal he got from New York 4 years ago.
Considering the Suns needed for more consistent production at the center position, acquiring Tyson Chandler makes sense.
Last season the team relied heavily on Alex Len and Brandon Wright, but neither remained fairly consistent when given heavy minutes.
There’s word that the Suns and Chandler met with free agent LaMarcus Aldridge in an attempt to convince him to join as well. However, there’s no telling if Aldridge would actually consider Phoenix over the San Antonio Spurs.
