The Player Who Starts But is Still in the Summer League: Hassan Whiteside
Despite Hassan Whiteside starting for the Miami Heat last season, he still remains on the team’s summer league roster. To his credit, Whiteside has not been put into a game yet, but after having the highest player efficiency of qualified centers last season, he has to be wondering why he was in Orlando.
Whiteside averaged a double-double last season with 11.8 PPG and 10 RPG, but apparently the Heat believe that he can improve even more by practicing with players like Rodney McGruder and Seth Tuttle.
The Heat did finish the Orlando Summer League with a record of 5-0, so maybe Miami was just trying to bring a banner back to the American Airlines Arena (even though that banner is probably made from cardboard and markers).
