This article will address the age-old question, does an NBA head coach actually do anything? At some point in our NBA fandom, we have all pondered over this puzzling matter. We’ve watched coaches walk out with their teams, dressed in suits that we can only dream of being able to afford. Their hair is freshly gelled, and their bald spots are waxed to perfection.
During media timeouts, we always see the coach holding a clipboard and drawing up a play, but how often do we actually see the team run that play? Don’t get me wrong here, head coaches are an important part of a team (which is why the Wizards can’t win a title), but how important are they really?
