Milwaukee Bucks: 5 Reasons Why The Bucks Will Take The Next Step This Season

Greg Monroe

When Greg Monroe decided to choose the Milwaukee Bucks over both the New York Knicks and Los Angeles Lakers, it shocked the NBA community. With career averages of 14.3 points and 9.2 rebounds per game, Monroe offers something the Bucks sorely lacked last season; a low-post threat. With an arsenal of low-post shots and an ability to finish around the rim, he will give the Bucks a viable post threat.

With only being 25 years old, Monroe offers an upside that few big men have in today’s NBA. He is an outstanding rebounder (10.2 rpg last season) and has shown an uncanny ability to finish around the basket.

Milwaukee struggled on the offensive side of the ball last season, only averaging 97.2ppg. They were also 25th in offensive efficiency (100.5). If shots are not falling and the Bucks need an answer – now they have Greg Monroe to dump the ball down into to initiate the offense.

Add all this up and it seems to be that Monroe should fit right in wearing a Milwaukee Bucks jersey. With a major market no longer needed to become a star (see Kevin Durant in Oklahoma City), Greg Monroe spurned the Knicks and Lakers and chose a team for its basketball fit instead of its exposure. I, for one, cannot blame him for choosing Milwaukee.
