Question: Have the Heat begun to shape their roster for life after Wade?
This question may be a few seasons too early, because we haven’t gotten to the Kobe Bryant point with Dwyane Wade yet, but is Wade’s one year deal worth looking into?

Perhaps it’s not much of a story and Wade just wants to try to tap into the surplus money that’s going to be available when the salary cap skyrockets one and two seasons from now. However, some of the Heat’s acquisitions show that, while Wade may have some very good seasons left in the tank, the Heat have at least acknowledged that there actually is a Wade expiration date on the horizon. Goran Dragic was acquired mid-season via trade and re-signed long term this offseason.
While technically playing a different position, Dragic is a big, ball dominant guard like Wade. He’s not exactly a spring chicken, but he’s a few (NBA) years behind Wade, and can step right into the alpha role when the time comes. Rookie guards Justise Winslow and Josh Richardson represent prospective potential a few years away from top level production. The timeline is writing itself. We just now have to ask ourselves, how long?
