Three seasons ago, this might have been a top-5 pairing. Now, it’s an after-thought.
It’s almost as if Deron Williams forgot how to play basketball between his move from Utah to NY. He was given the keys to the city, but lost them in the garage. His defense is sub-par and his offense is borderline YMCA.
Wes Matthews is coming off major surgery, but the Mavericks believe he will recover to contribute what exactly? All-Star minutes, All-Star points? No, that’s not his game.
There will be plenty of opportunities for both players to put up shots, but how bad does Williams really want to play in the NBA?
