Trade No. 3

I’m not going to take credit for this one, as it was already proposed earlier this week. Outside of re-signing Jimmy Butler and drafting Bobby Portis, the Bulls have been content with the team they’ve assembled to battle the Cavs for Eastern supremacy.

Sorry Bulls fans, but as great as your team is, you’re not getting by Cleveland with Mike Dunleavy as your starting Small Forward. While this trade sacrifices their future (McDermott) for the present (Gay), it’s a risk worth taking, especially true considering Rose’s injury history and Gasol’s age (35).

For Sacramento, McDermott will be given a lot more playing time, with only Casspi to battle for minutes, plus a pass-first point guard in Rondo. Gibson fills a need behind Cousins and rounds out a decent off-season for their front court with the signing of Koufos and drafting of Caulie-Stein.
