That is what will be examined today. As is the case with any power rankings, it is not an exact science. Advanced statistics and impact on the game are major factors, but opinion is always the ultimate decider when it comes down to it.
The hardest part about ranking the top building block players under the age of 25 is keeping up with every players actual age. For instance, names like DeMarcus Cousins, Draymond Green, Paul George, John Wall, Klay Thompson, and Damian Lillard are all disqualified due to their age being 25. That eliminates quite the long list of qualified candidates.
There are several factors that determine how the top players were ranked. One major factor was that this is NOT a ranking of best players at this very moment. The dreaded potential aspect has to come into effect when selecting your franchise’s cornerstone. With that being said, potential is not nearly the sole deciding factor.
Production thus far plays a key, too. As does progression and growth. There is no shortage of stats that can help decide who the best star under 25 is to start a team with.
So without further ado, let’s see how things shook out after the decision-making process.
