5. Tobias Harris, Orlando Magic
2014-2015 Stats: 17.1 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 1.8 apg, 47% FG, 36% 3PT, 16.7 PER
Tobias Harris has steadily become one of the more talented combo forwards in all of basketball. After a career season last year, he is starting to show people what he is capable of.
On a young talented roster that includes Nic Vucevic and Victor Oladipo, Harris can sometimes be the forgotten man. His efficiency was eighth best in the NBA for small forwards last year and there is no reason to believe he won’t continue that. His strength and size gives him similar attributes to the highly successful Draymond Green.
In the modern NBA, there are just not that many two-way players who can provide what Harris offers. Not to mention his ceiling is extremely high because he is a mere 23-years-old.
Not only is he an efficient player but he also has made great strides in improving his weaknesses. His 3-point shot was a major concern entering the season last year. He shot a putrid 25 percent from deep in 2013-14 and that was a major knock on his game. But. last season, he improved to a solid 36 percent and made himself into a legitimate outside threat. That will open so many doors to how much of a weapon he will be offensively going forward.
Also, throw in the fact that he is strong defensively and he is a shoe in for this list. The 23-year-old was one of just six NBA players to average 15 points and six rebounds while shooting at least 35 percent from 3-point range last season. His name rarely comes up and that is a crime. If his stats don’t scream underrated, I am not sure what would.
