Overrated Since: Stephen Curry became the best and baddest point guard in the NBA

2014-15 stats: 21.7 points; 44% 3-pt

Klay Thompson is a fine player. He’s not the best shooting guard in the NBA, and it’s not even close. There were conversations last season that premised over that statement – which was sad to hear.

Thompson is one of the better two-way players in the NBA and an awfully great shooter, but he’s not on the same level of James Harden – and there’s a significant gap between the two. Thompson is probably a top-5 two-guard in the NBA, simply because it’s almost become somewhat of a lost art.

The biggest reason why Thompson is even getting a seat next to Harden on most of these conversations is because Stephen Curry is just that great. His simple presence and brilliance on the court allows for Thompson to do what he’s done over the last few years. He’s always been a great shooter, but Curry’s MVP level of play over the last year has helped Thompson blow up even more onto the scene.

Thompson is good – really good at times. But because so many around the NBA want to put him in the same breath as Harden, he almost automatically becomes overrated.
