5. Houston Rockets

Christina – James Harden asked for another guard to help take the load off of him, and the addition of Ty Lawson should accomplish just that. Then again, that addition could be a recipe for disaster; James Harden controls the ball a lot, and so does Ty Lawson, but these two will have to learn how to co-exist in order for it to work.

The Rockets improvements aren’t enough to make us forget that the Warriors are the current NBA champs, the Thunder are returning Kevin Durant, the Clippers made improvements this offseason, and the Spurs added LaMarcus Aldridge, so the Rockets returning to the WCF is not a given.

5. Los Angeles Clippers

Michael – Everything that the Clippers did this offseason look great on paper. But that might be their problem. They built a team that would probably win close to 60 games in NBA 2k, but a team that could self-destruct in the actual NBA. They’ll be good, but I fear putting high expectations on the Clippers because of some of their unpredictable personnel.
