The New York Knicks aren’t terrible – but they also aren’t good:

Could it be that the New York Knicks will not be a punching bag this season? Is Derrick Williams actually a legitimate threat in today’s NBA? If you would have asked me that before the season the answer would have been a resounding no. Or as Jalen Rose says…

Now even with the early success of the Knicks, I will not go on record as saying that the Knicks are a good team. Are they a terrible team? Not right now. They have the talent to at least to be a respectful team. This team goes as Carmelo Anthony does and he looks to ensure they are not absolutely terrible.

Kristaps Porzingis has shown flashes to make me believe he is not the second coming of Andrea Bargnani. Robin Lopez is an adequate starting center and Arron Afflalo could have a sneaky good year this season. The problem is this team will not make the playoffs unless there is some unforeseen act of God.

The fans of the Knicks can at least take solace in the fact that the team is taking positive steps towards becoming a better team. Doesn’t mean they are destined for great things, but it does mean that they are no longer the punching bag out East. At least for now.
