5. Russell Westbrook, Oklahoma City Thunder
Stats: 26.3 points, 10.9 assists, 7.0 rebounds, 30 PER
The Oklahoma City Thunder may be struggling a bit overall as a team, lost three straight games last week, but they’ll always be able to lean on the broad shoulders of Russell Westbrook – and Kevin Durant. Remember the days when the narrative was that Westbrook wasn’t a true point guard?
Well it’s true. He’s not. He’s a SUPER point guard. Westbrook does it all. He’s averaging 26 points AND 11 assists per game. Oh, and he’s also working amongst the trees, averaging seven rebounds.
The Thunder’s duo will definitely split some votes when it comes time to vote for the NBA’s MVP, but Durant has won it before. So, why can’t Westbrook?
