Giving Back: Cutty was released from prison after serving time for murder, which shows he has killer instinct, and while Kevin Garnett hasn’t killed anyone, he used to have killer instinct on the court. Both are similar in that, as well as in that since age has caught up to them, they’ve decided to take a backseat to youth.

Cutty opened a boxing center to mentor youth, and Kevin Garnett returned to Minnesota to help mentor the young Timberwolves.

His impact on Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins this season – and beyond, if he returns for another season – won’t be able to be measured numerically, but should not be overlooked. To have a player like Garnett mentoring promising young players – and a promising young team – is invaluable. The Wolves might not have a ton of success this season, or even next. But the team’s success in five or six years will, at least partly, have to do with what Garnett is instilling in them right now.

Plus, it’s never bad to have a guy like Garnett backing your young pups up.
