In this week’s Roundtable, the SCIC team discusses the ups and downs of the NBA’s current rookie class
We’re now officially a little more than a month into the 2015-16 NBA season and we’ve witnessed quite some impressive feats from this year’s rookie class. From Karl-Anthony Towns to D’Angelo Russell to Justise Winslow, there seems to be something special about this year’s class.
Kristaps Porzingis is doing great things for the New York Knicks, Winslow has been the defensive sixth man that the Miami Heat have needed for years and Towns looks like the real deal in Minnesota.
Even if this rookie class hasn’t supplied the “wow” factor, such as players like LeBron James and Dwyane Wade did during their rookie campaign, what this year’s rookie class has done this season is still quite impressive.
Here are a few rooks who appear to be hitting their stride this season:
- Jahlil Okafor – 17.2 points, 8.1 rebounds
- Karl-Anthony Towns – 13.9 points, 9.2 rebounds
- Kristaps Porzingis – 13.8 points, 9.3 rebounds
- Emmanuel Mudiay – 11.4 points, 6.1 assists
- D’Angelo Russell – 10.7 points, 3.1 assists
- Stanley Johnson – 8.5 points, 3.9 rebounds
