In our latest installment of NBA MVP Power Rankings, we remind the public that we shouldn’t be ignoring what Kevin Durant is doing this season

Kevin Durant is doing some insane things this season. One could even argue that he’s having a better year than his MVP season in 2013-14. But thanks to Stephen Curry, who has simply stolen all the potential spotlight in the NBA, even from LeBron James, no one is really paying much attention to Durant.

That shouldn’t take away from his season, though. And we need to stop ignoring him.

Durant, who for all we know is still shaking off some rust after missing most of the 2014-15 season due to injury, is averaging 27.6 points, 7.7 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game. His percentages, though, are on record pace. Durant is shooting 56 percent on two-point attempts, 44 percent (career-high) on three-point attempts, is on pace to shoot 52 percent (career-high) from the field overall and has an effective field goal percentage of 59 percent (career-high).

But because Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors are having a historic season, and Durant has somewhat gotten lost in the NBA shuffle because he missed an entire season, what KD is doing this season is being overlooked. And that shouldn’t be the case.

Curry may be head and shoulders in the lead for this year’s NBA MVP award, but Durant isn’t far behind. Here are this week’s rankings.
