4. Jahlil Okafor, Philadelphia 76ers

Stats: 16.9 points, 7.9 rebounds

By simply looking at the stat sheet, you can see why the casual fan would find joy in what Jahlil Okafor is doing with the Philadelphia 76ers. Problem is, how many of his statistics are hollow numbers? The Sixers are a bad team – really bad. Someone has to score, get the rebounds and accumulate the numbers. If not Okafor, then who?

That’s the dilemma that presents itself when trying to evaluate whether Okafor is a good player or if he’s just benefiting from being on a bad team and playing 33 minutes per contest.

The answer probably lies somewhere in the middle. But, even then, I’m not sure if I’m willing to hand over the NBA Rookie of the Year award to Okafor. Not yet.
