We Overrated The New Orleans Pelicans

Coming off a breakthrough season from Anthony Davis and the New Orleans Pelicans as a whole, many predicted that they would be able to build off a playoff appearance. And, if they would remain healthy, would actually be able to climb up the Western Conference standings.

The complete opposite has happened, instead.

New Orleans is ranked 17th on offense and the 2nd worst defense in the NBA. That is not going to cut it in the East, West or even in the ACC. The Pelicans have been bad and they’re not a playoff team right now. Even though Davis is shooting at a lower percentage clip this season, I simply can’t pin the Pelicans’ misfortunes on them. Perhaps we overrated them?
