Boston Celtics
Nice surprise: Stop what you are doing and go vote for Isaiah Thomas to be an All-Star.
Thomas makes the short list of unguardable point guards in the East, thriving under head coach Brad Stevens. It doesn’t hurt that his backcourt cohorts are defensive savvy, leaving him to operate within the offense as he pleases. Thomas is top 20 in the NBA in Player Efficiency and top 10 in scoring per 48 minutes.
He’s averaging a career high in assists and his team’s offensive rating plummets when he’s off the court. Speaking of his team, the Celtics are 35-23 in the regular season since he came over from Phoenix last year. So, have you cast that vote yet?
Needs Improvement: The Celtics still aren’t an elite team, as evident by their 1-6 record against teams with top five records in the league. I think one more post scorer could help push them over the top.
