NBA: Where Each Eastern Conference Playoff Contender Stands

Chicago Bulls

Nice Surprise: Defense.

The Bulls defensive rating is second in the NBA, while opponents are shooting a near league low 36 percent. It’s almost as if the spirit of Tom Thibodeau still lingers with this team.

Needs Improvement: Derrick Rose.

Last year, Derrick Rose was a shell of himself. This year, that shell is cracked and covered in mold. He’s shooting 37 percent, his worst figure in any season in which he laced up those famous Adidas. And his efficiency rating is abysmal. His PER this season i 9.79. To put that into perspective, when Rose won his NBA MVP award in 2010-11, his PER was 23.5. This Bulls team has plenty of other problems, but it starts and stops with the point guard.
