NBA: Where Each Eastern Conference Playoff Contender Stands

Detroit Pistons

Nice Surprise: The Pistons have a superstar, which is something you probably haven’t said since the early 90s.

Andre Chamber… I mean Drummond puts up 20/15 on the regular. He might be better than any anyone on their 2004 title team. And Reggie Jackson is earning every penny of the nearly $14 million the Pistons are paying him this year. Chew on this thought for a moment; if salary cap didn’t exists, the Oklahoma City Thunder could have a starting lineup of Jackson, Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, James Harden and Serge Ibaka. By this year’s stats, that fivesome alone would average 114.2 points per game.

Needs Improvement: The Pistons are kiddie-pool shallow. Stanley Johnson is a fine rookie, but Steve Blake and Anthony Tolliver are each averaging around 20 minutes per game. That spells trouble for the long term.
