Nice Surprise: Some of the role players
The Clippers “Big Three” have been what you would expect. But when this team really shines, someone else besides Chris Paul, Blake Griffen and DeAndre Jordan performs well. For example, the Clip’ have surged in December thanks in large part to J.J. Reddick. Believe it or not, the former Dukey only made one less three than Stephen Curry this past month. And Austin Rivers is logging more minutes and putting up better numbers in year two under dad. Paul Pierce, Josh Smith and Jamal Crawford are proven, veteran players that haven’t provided enough punch of the pine. If those three there turn up their game, Golden State will have the depth to match San Antonio and Golden State.
Needs Improvement: Cut down on techs
It’s no secret that the Clippers whine more than any team in the league. The lead the league in technical fouls and when you consider how many close games they’ve played, their complaining has probably cost them a loss or two. The surprising part is Jordan and Griffen lead the team with six apiece. You’d think Paul, Pierce or head coach Doc Rivers would be at the top.
