NBA MVP Power Rankings: Stephen Curry Holding Off Durant, Leonard

1 of 11

In our first NBA MVP Rankings edition of the new year, Stephen Curry continues to hold off Kevin Durant and Kawhi Leonard

With the NBA stretch in sight, we’re going to begin to see the very best from both every team in the league and individual player. Even more so, each team’s best and brightest (you know when Pop decides not to rest his starters).

Now that the holidays are done and over with, it’s time to reset the NBA MVP rankings. For much of the year, we’ve seen Stephen Curry lead the race – and by quite a distance. Since then, however, we’ve seen the San Antonio Spurs, led by Kawhi Leonard, and the Oklahoma City Thunder, powered by Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant, begin to gain some ground on the Curry and the Warriors.

Meanwhile, in the Eastern Conference, the Cleveland Cavaliers are clearly the class of the conference. Although, that doesn’t mean the Chicago Bulls and Miami Heat can’t begin to gain ground. Both are a mere three games, or so, behind the Cavs. And each of their stars have begun to come on as of late.

Still, was that enough to deseat Curry from the top of our NBA MVP Rankings? Let’s get to it. Here is this week’s edition.
