2. Kevin Durant, Oklahoma City Thunder
Stats: 26.6 points, 7.4 rebounds, PER 28.5
Russell Westbrook is the team’s iron man, but without Kevin Durant the Oklahoma City Thunder simply aren’t the same team. and while the same could be said about Westbrook, Durant is on a different level. And he’s beginning to play more and more like that player we once knew before his foot injury.
However, he is toeing the line of being disqualified from the NBA MVP vote altogether because of the amount of games he’s missed this season. Thus far, Durant has missed 7 game this season. That might not seem like a lot, but that puts him on pace to miss close to 20 games this season. That’s too much for an MVP.
When Durant is playing, this Thunder team becomes a contender. When he isn’t, they aren’t. It’s that simple.
