What They Need: A Small Forward

And this has been the case for quite some time. The Chicago Bulls ignored it after they failed to sign Carmelo Anthony two summers ago. They hoped that Mike Dunleavy would be enough. Even though he played admirably last season against the Cavaliers, he’s often a liability for the now fast-paced NBA.

However, the small forward position is even more of a need considering that Dunleavey, who hasn’t played at all this season, suffered a setback in his rehab recently. He’s not expected to be ready to play this season until at least the middle of February. But with back injuries, it’s never a good idea to rush back. So let’s just say he probably won’t play until March.

The Bulls can’t afford to wait until then, and hope he still has the capability to be the player he was a season ago. The need to make a move now, even if that isn’t their MO.

The most frustrating thing for Bulls fans has to be that they have the assets to make a deal, but they continue to hold off on pulling the trigger. Moving Taj Gibson and/or Joakim Noah would reel in something decent for the Bulls. They just have to be willing to deal.
