Oklahoma City Thunder

Make no mistake, the Thunder are all-in on Kevin Durant and will make any move necessary to keep him.

There is no question that Durant reciprocates the love he has received from the Oklahoma community, no sign bigger than his million dollar commitment to the city after it was hurt by a tornado.

Now, the big question is whether or not the Thunder remain the quickest route to a title for Durant.

He and Westbrook remain the most lethal pair, easily, in the NBA.

That said, the firing of Scott Brooks is not one that went over well with the team. The loss of James Harden remains one that OKC has not recovered from in the years since and the failure to bring in a third piece to help the pair is a glaring mark against the Thunder.

If Durant were to stay in Oklahoma, it would be because he believes that he and Westbrook will eventually get the right combination of players around them to win it all. There is also the understanding that as enticing as Durant is to any team, the free-agency options for Westbrook next year are nearly identical right now.

The Thunder have a huge chance to keep Durant and Westbrook for the simple reason that there is no other elite player in the entire league that they can rely on more than each other. Durant can leave for any team, but he won’t find another Russell Westbrook. And he knows it.
