With the 2016 NBA Trade Deadline in the books, we analyze the winners and losers from a less than stellar deadline day
The NBA Trade Deadline has once again come and gone. And unlike last season, when a record 39 players were traded on deadline day, the 2016 version of it was a complete dud.
After rumblings that featured Dwight Howard, Al Horford, Jeff Teague, Kevin Love, Ryan Anderson and Ty Lawson, the biggest name on the move was Markieff Morris, Ricky Rubio and Tobias Harris – and the latter was dealt earlier in the week.
There were really no needle moving moves by any team and it seemed as if most teams were holding on to their assets. In a summer that features a $20 million salary cap rise, it probably makes sense to wait, rather than to make a knee jerk move in order to win a few more playoff games.
Then again, there were still like the Cavs and Clippers looking to make big splashes, but just not enough teams on the other end willing to dance.
Here are the winners and losers from Thursday’s NBA Trade Dud-Line.
