In this week’s NBA Power Rankings edition, we discuss whether LeBron James Will Ever Have Enough In Cleveland To Win Another NBA Championship
LeBron James. 31. He has about 2-4 years of prime years left. Only so much one man, as many miles as his inhuman body can take while making NBA Finals runs in each of the last five seasons, can take you.
And the Cleveland Cavaliers are going to test that theory this season – again. One can say that the Cavs wasted the first seven years of LeBron James’ career by not making the big move, getting him the necessary assistance. Have they made that mistake during his first two years back in Cleveland again?
It’s a fair question to ask for year 2. Not in year 1.
The Cavs made the “big” move for Kevin Love after they signed LeBron James two summers ago. That’s fine. They even made in-season trades – for J.R. Smith, Iman Shumpert and Timofey Mozgov – that progressed the team more than anyone could’ve anticipated in year 1.
That’s great. But the Cavs simply haven’t made that type of move this season. And that’s not a problem right now. But it will be in June.
LeBron James and the Cavs found out the hard way that they simply don’t have enough to beat the Warriors in a seven-game series. That’s not going to change with a healthy Kyrie Irving or Kevin Love, who simply doesn’t belong when the Warriors transform into their lineup of death.
Neither will Channing Frye.
