NBA: Predicting How The Western Conference Playoff Race Will Settle

8 of 9

Houston Rockets

Record: 29-29, 9th Seed

Remaining Schedule: 24 games remaining; 15 vs teams over .500

It’s actually quite strange to talk about the Houston Rockets and wonder if they’re even going to be a part of this year’s playoffs. They’ve actually been one of the NBA’s biggest disappointments this season. And a quite curious one, too.

The Rockets have essentially the same exact roster from a year ago, a season which ended with them in the Western Conference Finals, and added Ty Lawson in the summer – which many thought would be a final piece to them possibly challenging the Warriors en route to the NBA Finals.

Houston has actually been almost the exact opposite. With that said, they still have all the talent in the world to make a run into the postseason. If they can play up to their potential for only a few weeks in March, they probably do just enough to squeeze by the Jazz, Mavs or Blazers. I have a hard time seeing that, though.

(Prediction): 43-41
