Philadelphia: Where It All Started

“6-foot-6 from Lower Merion High School”

Those words have preceded Kobe Bryant in every start throughout his storied career.

A lot has been made of his childhood in Italy, but it was in Philadelphia that a young Bryant showed flashes of the phenom he would one day be.

Ironically, Philadelphia was the first road game after Bryant made his announcement. The city didn’t disappoint. It welcomed their son home and brought out Bryant’s old high school coach to present him with his old high school jersey.

With a little help from Dr. J, of course. All in all, it was the perfect way to kick off his retirement tour.
