Phoenix Suns
Record: 20-54
It would be easy to simply blame the Phoenix Suns’ shortcomings this season on injuries, but the team was already falling short of expectations long before Eric Bledsoe was lost for the season. When he was, that’s when the wheels completely fell off for the Suns.
Phoenix was 12-20 when Bledose was lost for the season and had the 9th worst record in the NBA. Tough, after adding Tyson Chandler in the offseason and Brandon Knight at the NBA Trade Deadline the year before, the Suns had to have its sights set on something more than a 32 win season, which they were on pace to finish with before Bledsoe’s injury.
Now, the Suns will be lucky if they finish with 23 wins this year. They won’t. It’s back to the drawing board for the Suns this offseason. Though, with the emergence of Devin Booker, the addition of a top 5 talent in the NBA Draft and the return of Bledsoe, the Suns will once again enter next season with some level of expectation.
We’ll see if they can reach it.
