With the 2015-16 NBA regular season nearly in the books, we make the case for seven Coach of the Year candidates
Believe it or not, one of the closest races of the 2015-16 NBA season is actually happening for the Coach of the Year award.
While the usual suspects have made their presence felt this season, there are a number of teams that have exceeded expectations this season, which has prompted attention. So much so, that each of their team’s head coaches have been mentioned when discussing the race for NBA Coach of the Year.
In the past, a few of the names that have won this award are Gregg Popovich, Mike Budenholzer, George Karl and Tom Thibodeau. Ironically, two of those names are currently out of the NBA altogether. Nevertheless, I think the vast majority would agree that those are all great coaches.
This year is no different. In the end, it’s going to be difficult to just choose one winner. To handicap the race a bit, I make the case for seven of the candidates.
Honorable Mention: Terry Stotts, Portland Trail Blazers
